It is Official!!!!

Well it is official now. I am committed to spend this spring, summer, fall, and part of winter at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. I guess it is official unless I somehow fail a drug test. I am excited to work there and they are excited for me to work there. It is going to be an interesting experience.

All I Wanted for Christmas...

I told Mike that all I wanted for Christmas was William to like me. Here we are in Vegas and he was happy to have me walk around with him and hold him. He was actually mad when I stayed at the Cowboy Christmas when Mike and Judi left. It was nice to finally have William like me. Thanks Mike and Judi

Charlotte, NC

Well I left snowy Salt Lake this morning and arrived in Charlotte this afternoon. I was picked up at the airport by Jeff the course superintendent. We sat and had a quick informal interview this afternoon. Then I went on a course tour with Dan one of the assistants. I am staying in the local Hampton Inn and Suites. WOW what a sweet hotel. The mirror in the bathroom has a built-in television. All in all, I think Quail Hollow would be a wonderful opportunity.

Job Hunt

Well, I am going to be leaving bYu in a few weeks and my job hunt is heating up. Just when I think that I have my decisions narrowed down, I get a reply to an email that I had previously sent out and given up on. I currently have three places that I am seriously talking to. They are scattered across the country:
1. Houston Oaks Golf and Country Club- Hockley, Texas
2. Quail Hollow Golf Club- Charlotte, North Carolina
3. The Ridge at Back Brook- Ringoes, New Jersey
4. Chenal Country Club- Little Rock, Arkansas

Some of the offers are full-time, some are internships. I am traveling out to Charlotte December 7th to meet with the company. So hopefully I can get in touch with all of my prospects and get things figured out. It is really exciting to have people want to talk with you and to be considered for great jobs.

Work, Work, Work

Well I started working on the bYu pesticide crew about two weeks ago. We have been spreading a lot of fertilizer to get the fall application done. We have finished campus and now are moving onto other shurch owned properties in Provo. We also take care of other pests across campus. We harvested some empty bee hives out of some trees and caught a cat at the football stadium.

College Game Day

Here are my two signs. Right when I showed up, the police came and told me that the bottom one was unacceptable, and also we could not have signs on poles, so I just put it back in my car.

College Game Day made their weekly stop in Provo this week. So I went out bought some supplies, made some signs, put a flag on a pole, and headed out to show my support for the greatest thing to happen to Saturday's EVER!!!!

It was so much fun. There were a bunch of BSU, UofU, TCU, and fans from many other colleges in attendance. Everyone told the BSU fans that they were overrated. Which is funny because bYu has never defeated the team.

Security was rather intense. I should have expected that, being at bYu, but it was surprising. Originally they told us that ESPN would not allow any flags or signs on poles. Also we were not to have any signs that were demeaning to any other team or player.
All in all I had a blast!!!!

Views of Garden Valley

Each morning when I woke up there was mist that filled the valley, I thought that it gave the mountains "personality"

Workin' with Brent and YSA Activity

On Saturday, Brent called and asked me what I was doing in Idaho. He told me that he needed to do some work on his house in Emmett, and I had already finished all I wanted to, so I headed to Emmett. On my way to Emmett, I stopped at a girl's house and she invited me to a YSA activity later on in the evening. It was altogether a good time. I did feel like a bum at the activity dressed in some crummy work clothes, but oh well...
The YSA activity was a dessert auction/dance? I think that people danced to about 3 songs. It was pretty fun, I bought my dessert early in the auction, and had to wait about 30 minutes for the rest of the auction to take place. It was fun and the dessert was good too.

Weekend in Idaho

So while my parents were away on vacation, I went home to do some chores. I had a great time enjoying the peace and quiet, and getting dirty! I stacked a bunch of wood in preparation for Christmas and also built some shelves in the garage.

I also rewarded myself after a long day of work with some steak and oreos.

Adios Bicycle! :(

Well in an attempt to save some money for the Rutgers professional turf school, I decided to sell my bike. I did not want to do it, but I can always get a new one next summer. I sold it on ebay to someone up in Ogden. I had some good times, but sometimes sacrifices must be made.

Operation Mouse Trap

Well a few days ago we saw a mouse in our apartment. So I went to the store and bought some mouse traps. The traps are pretty crappy, and the mouse has taken the bait off the trap without getting caught multiple times. The apartment management cam e and brought a sticky trap, and so far it has not worked. So today I devised a system, that I thought would catch the mouse for sure......

Above is a photo of the set-up I thought would get the mouse for sure.

Below is the photo of traps when I came home later tonight...... The dang mouse got the peanut butter off the traps again without getting caught!!!!

Pressing Flowers

For one of my classes we have an assignment of pressing flowers. (20 perennials and 20 annuals) I am not really sure when the assignment is due, but I decided to get started before the plants all die. It has actually been a fun process, a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The process consists of harvesting the flowers. I brought the flowers home and cut up a bunch of cardboard. I then put down some cardboard, a sheet of newspaper, the flower, then another sheet of newspaper, and then another layer of cardboard.... Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.... Then on Friday I have to replace the newspaper sheets to prevent the flowers from molding. Soon I have to go back and try to identify all the flowers that I have harvested so far.

Bike Ride to Squaw Peak

Today I got my bike tuned up so I decided to go for a ride. I have wanted to go for a long ride for some time so I headed up to Squaw Peak. The trip was a lot longer than I had planned. About half a mile from the top, I got passed by a big truck, I heard it continue to climb up the mounatin.... I nearly turned back thinking that I still had MILES to go. I decided to suck it up and keep going, then I found that I was really close to the look out point. It was a really good ride.

School and Such

Well I took some pictures during one of my classes yesterday to show what biology 235 is like. We go out and collect plant samples and memorize Family, Genus, Species. At first it was tough, but now my mind is back in school mode and it is getting easier.
After we go out and collect plants, we come back to the class and take pictures to use for flashcards. (1st Picture)
At the begining of each class we lay out all the various plant samples and have a quiz over the material. Each quiz consists of 10 plants, but there are about 70 plants out on the tables. One lucky student gets to pick out which plants we are tested on. (2nd and 3rd Pictures)

New Apartment

Here I am enjoying some OREO's in celebration of bYu beating Oklahoma on Saturday night!!!

Well I am finally back in Provo and dreading every day that I have to go back to class. I can't wait to be done. People tell me that once you are done you wish you were back in school, but I disagree. How can you beat coming home and watching tv or browsing the internet all night and not feeling guilty that you did not do any homework??? Well anyways here are some pictures of my new place. It looks a little cluttered but it is not that bad. I have already re-arranged to get all my stuff to fit.

Camping at Lake Owyhee

When I got back from Missouri, I went camping with my friend James. We loaded up his jet boat and headed to Owyhee Lake for a little boat camping. It was similar to car camping, but in a boat instead of a car. It was a great trip. We were able to go fishing, even though we did not catch anything we had a lot of fun!
