First Day on the Job

Today was my first day on the job. The Ranch is big. Big houses everywhere. Basically the members are all loaded. So I drove up to Park City today, when I finally got to the Ranch I was stopped at the Gaurd Station. They asked where I was going and why I was there. I explained that I was a Summer Intern at the Nicklaus course and they let me in the gate. I spent the WHOLE day raking grass that was damaged by voles. They are like a mix between a mouse and a mole. I have included a picture of the damage and of my work mule. I also was informed today that the Ranch "Dress Code" does not allow shorts to be worn!!!! That was almost a deal breaker, but I decided to comply and bought 5 pairs of khakis tonight at the DI.

This is a vole.

Promontory Internship

Well the semester is coming to an end, and I am getting excited for my internship in Park City. I recieved an email yesterday from Storme Mathisen, the superintendent of the Painted Valley Golf Course. It is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design. I think that I will spend 2 months there, then move to a different golf course at the club (there are 2 courses and 4 interns, each intern spends 2 months at each course). I had to write an essay about what I expect to gain from the internship. Even with the required writing assignment, I am excited to get working! Here are some pictures of the course.
